| Pool players, in general, are addicted to pool and
love to compete against each other. They enjoy competition as well as fellowship.
Players like to have a level playing field and they want to be treated with respect.

|
| It's hard to run an equitable league, tournament or tour and still
provide players with substantial payouts. Promoters face a formidable challenge
balancing rising fees, such as building and table rental, with the need to payout
as much as possible, across the field, to keep the players from losing money due
to travel expenses. |

|
Promoters want to pay as many spots as possible, to
generate interest, lowering the top-tier payout for the "real" winners. In contrast,
if only the top 10% of the field is paid, interest at the lower levels begins to
drop off. A pro player once said that it's easy to win a high dollar tournament
but the difficult task is getting paid. |
| Tournaments played at the local level allow players
to limit out-of-pocket expenses and generate interest to players that would, otherwise,
be financially excluded. |
